Cafe for its depiction of the outlawed LTTE in negative light,
DMK chief M Karunanidhi today urged the government to ascertain the truth behin
"I have not watched this film. It is
being said the film has been produced (made) in a way (that is) insulting to
the Eelam Tamil fighters (LTTE). It would be proper only if state government
ascertains whether this information is true and then takes appropriate

whether the film should be banned. Pro-Tamil outfits including Vaiko's MDMK and
Seeman's Naam Tamilar have sought a ban on the Hindi flick, slated for release
this week.
Set in the late 80s and early 90s in
India and Sri Lanka, Madras Cafe traces
the political and military histories of the neighbours and covers the Research
and Analysis Wing and Lankan rebel group LTTE's activities through the eye of
an agent, played by Abraham, who has also produced the movie.
The film was shown to select activists of
pro-Tamil outfits here on Sunday, after they demanded screening of the movie
before release, as they suspected it showed the LTTE in bad light.
