Rukmini
Vijayakumar, who plays superstar Rajinikanth’s younger sister in his upcoming
animation 3-D venture Kochadaiyaan,
is said to have married ‘secretly’ without troubling anyone.
Rukmini,
a talented bharatanatyam dancer and a ballet danseuse, debuted as heroine in
Kollywood with ace director Bharathiraaja’s Bommalattam in December, 2008. The film wasn’t a
success story at the box-office though Rukmini’s performance was lauded by the
critics as well as movie-goers. She also played a prominent role in Tamannah’s
Ananda Tandavam. After that, she didn’t get (m)any film offers.
Busy
with running her own dance school in U.S. , she was signed up by debutant
director Soundarya to play Rajini’s sister in
Kochadaiyaan. Though it’s an animation film, Rukmini was nevertheless excited
at getting to rub shoulders with Rajini on-screen. Though it’s a sister’s role,
it’s almost like the second heroine’s role in the film, informs Rukmini.
“I
play a dancer in Kochadaiyaan and found the experience of starring in an
animation film enthralling. We shot at Finewoods Studios in Londonwhere many James
Bond films have been shot. During the shoot of a particular sequence, I was
asked to don costumes which had close to 100 mini-cameras ‘hidden’ in them. It
was really an unforgettable experience to shoot in those costumes.
“Though I worked only for an hour or two with Rajini, I
could feel the aura and realize why he is hailed as a superstar,” said Rukmini.
She also added that she got married to Rohan Menon recently. “I don’t want to
discuss a lot about my personal life,” she concluded.
